Labour’s Defence Plans
CONSIDERED BY CAUCUS Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Further consideration was given to the question of defence to-day at the caucus of members of the Parliamentary Labour Party, which concluded in the afternoon. After the meeting, extending over two days, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, in an interview this evening ,said the discussions on defence had occupied the greater part of Wednesday and practically all of to-day. The discussions, said Mr. Savage, had been highly interesting. What tho members of the caucus had been mainly concerned with was the land defence forces. They were enthusiastic about the Government’s activities to speed up and strengthen the land forces. All had agreed that it was desirable that lie should speak on the subject of defence as soon as possible, leaving the details to wait until the Government had received the report of MajorGeneral P. J. Maekcsy on laud forces. Certainly no harm could be done, but quite a lot of good, from broadcasts giving a general outline of the defence policy of the Government.
