Manawatu Mounted Rifles
B Squadron, 4th. Mounted Rifles (Motorised), under Major B. Norman, with Captain A. H. Ferguson second in command, are holding their annual camp at Marton racecourse this month. The advance party, under Major R. P. Hopkirk, 8.5. M., will proceed to Marton ou Saturday to prepare the camp in, readiness for ranks attending the preliminary instructional course, which is held from. May 12 to 20, when the main camp commences, all ranks marching out on May 30. A considerable amount of tactical work will be undergone during the duration of the camp, but one of the main features will be instruction in the recently imported Bren gun and armoured carriers. As this will be their introduction to these new arms all ranks are enthusiastic aud looking forward to their training. The ofliccr commanding is desirous of obtaining a high percentage in attendance and trusts that employers will give every facility where members of their ‘ staffs wish to attend the camp. The camp adjutant will be Captain J. B. Barry, N.S.C.; Medical Ofliccr Captain Thoiup&on; Padre Captain Hercus. Troop officers attending are Lieutenants Blacklock (Ohakune), Broome (Taihape), Abel (Huntervillc), Cameron (Marton; and Crisp (Levin).
