SUCCESS AT WAIPAWA CONFERENCE
A very pleasant afternoon was spent in the Papatawa Hall last Friday when the Papatawa Women's Institute held its monthly gathering. The meeting was presided over by Mrs. L. E. Gleadow who, after the business was over, gave a short talk about the recent con ference at Waipawa which was of special interest to members as their community work won the shield and a member, Mrs. A. E. Dickens, was reelected to tlje executive committee. Mrs. Gleadow presented Mrs. R. Bradley wfth a bank book for her new baby. * For the rest, a sociable afternoon was spent with some community singing, and Mrs. I. R. Hutchinson delighted members with two songs. A- competition was won by Miss J. Gilbert. Mrs. Porson was then invited to open the parcels given to her by members as she had lost everything in a recent fire. A dainty afternoon tea was served by tho hostesses, Mesdames Parker, I. Hutchinson and S. C. Sandbrook. The results of the competitions were then given out.—Seniors: A cushion made with one yard of cretonne, Mrs. Sandbrook. Juniors; A cushion worked in wool, Miss Goldsworthy.
