MAORIS CARRY NEW ZEALAND’S COLOURS United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 7.30 p.m. SYDNEY, April 25. Anzac ceremonies in Australia to-day followed the customary fort. A close holiday was observed in most States. Twenty-three thousand Diggers marched through Sydney’s chief thoroughfares, quite a large proportion showing signs of advancing age with furrowed cheeks, yet out to show there was still plenty of vigour and fight in the Anzac brotherhood. A couple of Maoris carried the New Zealand colours and received a hearty cheer along the route, which was lined by 100,000 people. One man dropped dead during the march. He was an original Anzac. At least 500 fainted and received first aid. ambulance treatment. Seventeen bands participated in the parade, which was held in ideal weather. The usual dawn service was held opposite the Cenotaph which was heavily covered by wreaths.
