British Music Society
For the opening concert of the 1939 season the British Music Society is fortunate in being able to present to its members and other music lovers of Palmerston North a group of instrumentalists from Wellington under the leadership of Dr. Allwyn Keys. Since returning from several years’ study in Paris, Dr. Keys has succeeded in gathering an unusually talented group of players Whose work has delighted many Wellington audiences. Himself an artistic performer on the viola, Dr. Keys has an apt appreciation of the beauties of chamber music and is presenting on Saturday night a programme, which cannot fail to appeal. Mrs. Keys, wife of Dr. Keys, is accompanist to the party. Mr. and Mrs. Donald McKenzie are also members of the group, as is the well-known violinist, Desmond Lavin. Olga Burton, besides appearing as violinist, will again charm Palmerston North with tho lyrical qualities of her soprano voice. Saturday’s concert will provide a memorable entertainment for all those who are able to be present. Members of the public may attend the performance.
