A Real Drive Ken Glendinning has been playing good golf lately and during the weekend he hit one drive that ho had reason to be proud of. It was at the third hole, where he got tremendous pace on tho club-head. It was a “pin-splitter” from the moment it left tho tee, and It kept on the true line, finishing less than 45 yards from the Hag. It was past tho first bunkers on the left of tho run-in and it must have travelled over 340 yards. North Island Championships The North Island championship tournament will be played at Hokowhitu during Easter and there is every prospect of a star field. Pax Smith, the New Zealand amateur champion, who beat John Hornabrook in tho final of the North Island championship last year, will defend his title, and others who have entered are Brian Silk, of Belmont, Gladiug, the plus-one man from Hamilton, David Graham, the Ilcretaunga champion, Ewen, the stylish English player from the Hutt, Guy Horne, also from the Hutt, Ngaio Amon, and Gover. Ken Glendinning is undecided whTTther ho will play in the North Island championship. He would like to play in the Napier tournament, but he is torn between that desire and loyalty to bis own club. David Collins was a visitor to Hokowhitu last week. Ho leaves for England on April 13 by the Rangitata and Mrs. Collins and Miss Elizabeth Collins are also making the trip. The New Zealand champion, Miss Suzanne Collins, is giving golf her serious attention. J. R. Galloway selected a new set of irons for her last week. Over the week-end W. G. Clark, the Levin club champion, returned a steady 79. Getting great length from the tees, he birdied the third, tenth, eleventh and seventeenth holes, but he lost several strokes through lack of local knowledge. A keen field is anticijiated for tho Easter tournament and players will find the course in excellent condition.
