British Achievement In Empire Building

NAZI JOURNAL’S PRAISE LONDON, Feb. 7. Britain’s aeliieveinent in Empire building is praised by the Bchwarze Korps, organ of tho Nazi Black Guards, which calls it “a work of peace. s ’ A cultured people, not a military State, created tho Britisn Binpire," it says. The article begins by explaining the necessity of viewing both tho construetive achievements and the weaknesses of others. It proceeds:— “Not only tho creation of such a farflung Empire, not only the historic achievement embodied in the successful completion of so great an enterprise, calls forth our respect; but also* that indefinable something that lifts this work of human hands beyond the mere political sphere.

“Some conquerors have knit together similar expanses, but only a very small part of the British Empire has been conquered by force. It is a work of peace. That is the secret of its strength.”

Comparing the British with tho Roman Empire, tho journal concludes that while Rome concentrated on creating civil codes, Britain from the beginniug was a Nordic nation, creating civilisation.

It adds: “A cultured people, not a military State, created the British Empire. One must see tho British Columbian forests, the South African gold districts and the Ganges River, in order to understand Great Britain’s accomplishments for mankind.

“If North America, Australia, New Zealand and Bouth Africa aro to-day places where tho white race live comfortably, Europe owes this principally to the audacious spirit of enterprise and tenacious work of the English.."
