From dur Own Correspondent. Mrs Lester Burling, Foxton Road, is spending a holiday in Ekatahuna. Mr and Mrs L>. Cycle and family are holidaying in Hawera and are the guests of Mr Gyde's family. Air Tremewan, Airs G. Tremewan, Jnr.. and Mrs A. Thompson, Jnr.. have returned home after an enjoyable holiday at Waitarere Beach. Mr and Airs Carkeek and family left Shannon last Saturday for Levin, where they will reside in future. Another Shannon resident, Air P. McEwen, left for Alartinborough last week-end. At the Opiki ilower show. Airs AT. A. Pedersen, Shannon, was successful in gaining three prizes with two entries in the gladioli section, and also received a crystal vase as points prize in this secP. and T. Picnia. Over twenty persons, representing members of the local post-office staff and busi ness people of Shannon, were present at the P. and T. Employees’ Association picnic on the banks of the Ohau River at Muhunoa East, on Sunday. As a social gathering the functicyt was highly successful, and the large gathering of officers, with their families and friends, spent a happy day. Those present were well catered for by the executive, and a programme of athletic and novelty events proved most entertaining. Air L. G. Lowry, M.P., and Airs Lowry, were among those present. Several of the local en trants in the various sports events were successful. Alisses Munford anti Air T. King won the wheelbarrow race, Airs T.
