New Zealand Doctors Greatly Admired

VIEWS OF AMERICAN PROFESSOR NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. “I hope the Government treats the doctors of New Zealand fairly,” said Dr. H. E. Robertson, Professor of Pathology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, of the Mayo Foundation University ol Minnesota, United States of America when interviewed last night. Dr. Robertson, who arrived at New Plymouth last night, will visit Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin to lecture and New Plymouth is the only town outside of those four cities at which he is lecturing.

Dr. Robertson referred to the fact that the New Zealand doctors were widely travelled and anxious to keep abreast of all modern discoveries in the field of medicine. While he did nor know what the Government’s intentions were regarding the position of doctors under the Social Security Scheme, Dr. Robertson said that New Zealand doctors were greatly admired in every country he had visited. Many of them had studied at the Mayo Clinic, where Dr. Robertson met them and heard much about New Zealand. As a result he was invited to come to New Zealand and lecture to groups of medical men. Last night Dr. Robertson lectured at the nurses’ home to Taranaki doctors under the auspices of the North Taranaki Clinical Society. Drs. Reid and Jaguseh invited Dr. Robertson to visit New Plymouth. To-day Dr. Robertson will be shown all the beauty spots of the town and will leave for Wellington to-morrow.
