INTER-CLUB MATCH AT HOKOWHITU TEAM TO MEET NAPIER A team from the Napier Golf Club, bringing with it the Wilson Cup, will play a match against Manawatu at Hokowhitu on Saturday, and the following players have been selected to represent Manawatu:— K. S. Glendinniug (captain), O. H. Williams, V. Sutherland, N. Amon, E. R. Chapman, W. W. Smith, N. G. Ingham, J. Ait ken, J. Mabey, W. F. Green bank, W. Moffatt, N. M. Nash, G. A. Robertson, C. B. Currie, A. Fletcher, H. Palmer, S. A. Goldingham, H. Mabey, F. M. Fisher, J. \V. Jones, J. Louisson, H. E. Fairey, F. A. Cousins, E. R. Winisett, F. L. Jolly, N. A. Nash, D. McKenzie, N. Triggs, A. J. Phillips, Noel Mabey, A. E. Hansel, Dr. Pullar. The Napier team of 32 players is arriving on Friday evening, and a fourball match will be played with the Manawatu team on Saturday morning, commencing at 9 a.m. During the afternoon the 12 lowest handicap players on each aide will contest the Wilson Cup, and the remaining players will play a straight-out singles match. All play will Ido in fours, including the Wilson Cup players. In selecting the Manawatu team preference has been given to players who visited Napier. Unfortunately only about half the team can play in tho morning, and hence the captain would be gratified if any other club member who can play on . Saturday morniug in the four-ball match would kindly do so. Names of players willing to assist can be given to the captain, secretary, or Mr. Galloway. EXHIBITION MATCH IN SYDNEY FERRIER BEATS LOCKE SYDNEY, Oct. 5. The exhibition golf match at Manly to-day between J. Ferrier (Australian amateur champion) and Bobby Locke (South African professional) was full of sensations. Ferrier beat Locke at the 37th green. Locke was threo down at the end of tho morning round, while at the 16th Ferrier had a commanding lead of live up, but in the afternoon Locke fought back grandly to square tho match at
1 - the 33rd. They were still square at the 3 36th. On the 37th Locke left himself a nine--1 foot putt, but the ball bung on the lip l of the hole, giving Terrier a broad , target from live feet. The Australian sank the putt to win one of the most thrilling matches in yeurs.
