From Our Own Correspondent. Young Farmers’ Club Dance. The Young Farmers' Club held their first dance recently, the function being well patronised. Dancing was earned on until a lato hour, Messrs K. Cotton and C. Christensen acting as M's.C. Supper was served by the committee members. Novelty dances were won by Mrs T. Dalgety and Mr Jack Dench (Gay Gordons), and Miss A. Gimblett and Mr L. Gates (Monto Carlo). On Monday evening the monthly meeting of the Young Farmers' Club was held, there being a large attendance of members. The recent club dance was reported on by the secretary-treasurer, Mr W. Jaivis who stated that a loss of a few shillings had resulted. The matter ot automatic resignation from the committee was discussed and it was decided that a member of the committee automatically resigns if he is absent from two meetings without giving a written or verbal apology before the meeting. At th ® conclusion of the business, Mr R. Craig (advisory chairman)? gave an address on subterranean clover. The address was all the more interesting as Mr Craig is a local farmer and able to talk of his experiments on land similar to that farmed of the club. He was accorded a hearty vote r»f thanks. Arrangements for a visit to the seed testing station at Palmerston North, and to Massey College, were dn cussed, and the dates for several field days were given, after which supper was & ° lNeCl ' National Party Dance. The final dance organised by the Oroua Downs branch of the National heled last week. It was an outstanuing success both socially and financially. A professional orchestra supplied the dance music. The supper arrangements were in the hands of the ladies’ committee and left nothing to be desired. A competition St Mr R. Waller. Novelty dances Were won by Miss D. Merchant and Mi W Spicer tGay Gordons), and Mrs K. Harvey and Mr D. Waller (Monte Carlo). Measles and colds are at present prevalent throughout the distrief am(*ng both •ldults and children. The school attendance has been greatly depicted during the past few days.
