Starr-Bowkett Building Society
The monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Starr-Bowkett Building Society was held last evening, Mr. H. Christmas presiding. Other directors present were; Messrs. F. Jackson, H. Findlay Wilson, M. A. Eliott, S. W. llapley, D. F. Smillie and J. B. Gerrand. Business was conducted in all groups. In Group 6 loans of £IOO and £SOO were approved on satisfactory security and a progress payment of £4OO on a new dwelling was passed for payment,. In Group No. 8 a loan of £IOO was approved; in Group No. 9 a loan of £SOO was approved and in Groups 10 and 1> loans of £IOO and £2OO were passed. The board gave serious consideration to the possibility of extending the society’s lending margin writh the object of making it easier for younger people to purchase their homes and it was decided to consider the matter at the next meeting after further investrgation. At the conclusion of the’meeting tho question of the appointment of a secretary to the society was considered ami Mr. L. I. Plimmer, the acting-secretary, was appointed to the position. The members of the board wished him every success in his future work for the society.
