MONTHLY MEETING HELD The monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Palmerston North Cooperative Building Society was held last evening, Mr. D. F. Smillie presiding. Other directors present were Messrs F. Jackson, J. B. Gerrand, M. A. Eliott, H. Findlay-Wilson, S. W. Rapley and H. Christmas. Before the commencement of business the meetiug stood in silence to tho memory of the late Mr. W. B. Cameron an old member of the society, and a resolution extending sympathy with his family was passed. Business wag conducted in all groups. In group No. 6 loans of £3OO and £BOO were approved on the valuer’s reports and progress payments totalling £350 for houses in course of erection were passed. In group No. 8 a loan of £IOOO (in trust in the P. 0.5.8.) was approved. In group No. 9 a loan of £9OO was held over pending valuation being obtained, und in group No. .10 progress payments of £SOO on houses in course of erection were passed. The directors gave consideration to details of the annual general meeting of, the society. as one of the leading financial institutions. Mr. Smillie thanked his co-directors for t.heir courtesy and assistance during tho past year. Tho happy relations which had existed between the directors would continue and the incoming chairman would receive every consideration from his colleagues. Hie thanks were also due to tho staff for the splendid manner in which they had conducted the affairs of the society through a very difficult period.
