Mr. Savages Tour GRATIFICATION EXPRESSED AT RECEPTIONS

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug,

* ‘To bo able to pass tbrcugh an experience like that maxes me worm while/' remarked the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, commenting on his tour of the Canterbury electorates, from which he returned this morning. Mr Savage said he did not know what words to use to express his gratification at the receptions he had been accorded. No-one had told him that everything was perfect. He did not expect anyone to say that, but it was just a matter of the natural expression of the people’s goodwill. Most of the people who welcomed him had never seen him before and he had visited places he had never been in before but his treatment was the same everywhere. The tour did him more good than all the chemists* shop 3 in New Zealand could do. It was an inspiration. The Prime Minister said he would be going north to Marsden and Kaipara as soon as the social security legislation was on its way. A little later he would probably go to Southland. “My mission is to meet the people. It is not a question of the election campaign; I want to do it all the time* concluded Mr Savage.
