From Our Own Correspondent. District High School Committee The chairman (Air W. R. AlcKenzie) presided at the monthly meeting of tinFoxton District High School committee Correspondence was received from the Wanganui Education Board granting absence to Alisa Lumsden of the school statu on account of the serious illness of Tier father, and also to Air Kane to enalfle him to attend meetings as president a. the Educational Institute. Correspondence was aiso received from the Board dealing with the provision of playing apparatus for infant children. The com mittee instructed the chairman and Air Podmore to interview the infant mistress for further suggestions. The secretary was instructed to maxe enquiries as to the progress that had been made in connection with supplying the local school with milk from Otaki according to the scheme previously decided on by tho committee. Alessrs H. Ilannay and H. Podmore were appointed visitors for the month. Appreciation was expressed oi the assistance given by the teaching staff and the janitor when the Board’s workmen were renovating the school. A vote of thanks was accorded Messrs T. Fuller and J. Huff for erecting goal posts in the playing area. Old Pupils’ vance. An enjoyable dance, organised by the committee members of the Foxton HigT School Old Pupils’ Association was held recently. The hall was attractively decorated, the floor in perfect order and modern tunes were rendered by an excellent orchestra. Extra danco numbers were played by Alessrs J. Newton and L. Mattar. Confetti dances were a popular fea ture and a Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Aitkin and Mr Woodman. Supper was served by the committee members, after which dancing was resumed and continued until a late hour.
