MASTER OF LAND’S END AUCKLAND GIRL THE BRIDE Six weeks after he arrived in New Zealand, Captain H. Jeffery, master and owner of the South African ketchrigged yacht Land’s End, was married on Thursday to an Auckland girl, Miss Desiree Hansen, youngost daughter of Mrs. E. James, Grafton. The ceremony was performed at the Auckland Registry Office by the registrar, Mr. J. H. V. Carr. Captain Jeffery announced his engagement last week Although plans for the future arc not yet definite, Mrs. Jeffery will probably not be a passenger on tho yacht when it leaves New Zealand finally for the return voyage to South Africa, instead, she will follow her husband by the usual steamship route. Captain and Mrs. Jeffery will make their home in Natal, about 12 miles out of Durban, at Isipingo Beach. Cruise to Tonga. Captain Joffery stated last night that he intended to leave Auckland on Monday for a cruise of a few months to the Tongan Group. He would go first of all to Whangarej and the Bay of Islands for the purposo of embarking the two New Zealanders who are to make this part of the cruise with him. They are Mr. D. Ashton, of Whangarei. and Mr. H. R. Jenkins, who is building his own boat at the Bay of Islands for ocean-cruising and is going to Tonga with Captain Jeffery for the purpose of gaining experience of this type of sailing. It is expected that Mrs. JeffeTy will also make the voyage to Tonga. The Land’s End will probably return to Auckland about tho second week in November. She will remain in port for a portion of the yachting season and will then cruise round the New Zealand coast. Homo ward Journey. After this cruise the yacht will set sail for Sydney and Captain Jeffery intends to proceed back to Durban by way of Brisbane, New Guinea, the Dutch East Indies anil tne Indian Ocean. The yacht left South Africa last September and entered the Pacific through the Panama Canal. On the cruise down to New Zealand the Tongan Group was not visited. In addition to Captain Jeffery and the two New Zealanders the Land’s End will leave on Monday with the same crew as arrived with her at Aucb land. They are Mr. G. Cadenhead, mate, and Messrs C. Wilson and J Worden.
