PRAISE FOR L. Ci. CRAWLEY, GREAT POWER AND CONTROL. Writing in the Sunday Referee, S. King picks L. G. Crawley as the best amateur golfer he has ever seen. Crawley was selected for the British Walker Cup team this year. King writes of him:— “If only he were a better judge of distance he would have been as good a bet as anyone for the open championship. He is terrifically long, and [ usually dead straight, with his wooden clubs. The same applies to his irons; he utilises his great strength to the full, and there is control with it. I believe Crawley just the same on the cricket field. A Jessop school batsman —as many a cricketer fielding * on the obundary line will affirm. “Here is *a concrete example of his power. In the Sunningdale foursomes he was getting home at the ninth hole with an iron off the tee when A. H. . Padgham and the rest of us were struggling to do so with brassies! A long-driving contest between him and I C. J. H. Tolley would be worth going | a long way to see!
