ALTERATIONS TO MAN AW ATI? TEAMS

Owing to players being unable to travel, several alterations have been made in the Manawatu Rugby football teams to play to-day, so that they will be as follow: Against Horowhenua:— Full-back: R. Richards (St. Pat’s). Three-quarters: D. Buiek (Old Boys), A. Guild (Massey College), H. Waugh (Foilding Old Boys, captain). Five-eighths: Stewart (Massey college), C. Hehir (St. Pat’s). Half-back: W. Jarvis (Kia Toa). Back row: J. Nicholson (Feilding). Middle row: A. White (Kia Toa), L. Beard (Kia Toa), G. Dew (United), O. Newman (Feildiug). Front row: R. Shand (Old Boys), D. Ewart (Feilding Old Boys), B. MeCashin (St. Patrick’s). Emergencies.—Forwards: P. Louisson (Old Boys), B. McCashin (St. Pat’s). Backs: Reynolds (Feilding Old Boys), J. Nicol (Foilding), H. Carr (Kia Toa).

The team will assemble at the showgrounds at 2 p.m. Against Wairarapa:—

Full-back: N. Mabey (United). Three-quarters: L. Hills (Old Boys), G. Simpson (Kia Toa), J. Mitchell (Massey College). Five-eighths: J. Finlay (Feilding Old Boys), M. Dermer (Feilding). Half-back: C. Edlin (St. Pat’s). Back row: Y. Fleming (Old Boys).

Middle row; B. O’Dea (Old Boys), H. McLaren (Massey College), W. Powell (St. Pat’s), K. Beard (Kia Toa). Front row: W. Sullivan (Feilding), L. Thorne (Kia Toa), G. Hunt (St. Pat’s).

The team will travel by bus, leaving the rural bus stand, Palmerston North, at 8.15 a.m. Invitation to New Zealand Rugby Union.

Owing to Athletic Park, Wellington, not being available for the match between the All Blacks and tlio Rest, which has been set down for August 20, the match will not be staged in Wellington, and representations have been made by the Manawatu Rugby Union to have the game played at Palmerston North.

j The following telegram has been sent Ito the secretary of the New Zealand 'Rugby Union: “Wo note arrangements Cannot be mado for the All Blacks ; match at Wellington on the 20th. I am instructed to invite your union to play the match at Palmerston North, play to start at 2 o ’clock, so as to allow the southern players to catch the boat that night.” If tho Manawatu application is acceded to tho fixture will coincide with the Manawatu Union’s jubilee and will, of course, bo the major jubilee attraction on August 20.
