A narrow escape from asphyxiation was experienced by tho night watchman at the of A. B. Wright, Limited, in Great North road, Auckland when he collapsed with a heart attack in a gas-filled room. He had intended to light a gas jet iu order to boil water, and when the gas blew back the shock brought on an attack of heart trouble which left him for a time helpless and unable to turn off the gas. He was taken to the hospital but was able to return home after receiving treatment.
