House-warming Party

GATHERING AT MANGARAWA A house-warming party tendered by about fifty neighbours in the Mangarawa district took place in the new home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Goldsworthy on Monday evening last. The time was very pleasantly spent playing cards and games, dancing and in. com munity singing, while the following items were also rendered:—Highland fling, Mary Coulon; recitation, Mr. Alec. Hall; song, Mr. A. F. Curry. The winners at the card tables were Messrs. R. Murray and Halford and Mesdames A. Hall and Sage. Pianoforte music for the evening was played by Mesdames O’Hagan, Curry and J. Baldick, Miss Goldsworthy, and accordion music by Messrs. A. F. Curry and F. Baldick. A competition was won by Mr. A. Curry, junr. Mr. A. F. Curry, on behalf of the gathering, declared that Mr. and Mrs. Goldsworthy had earned their new home by their 24 years’ of work on the place, latterly assisted by their family. He wished them as much happiness in the new as they had enjoyed in the old. Mr. Goldsworthy replied, thanking their friends for the good wishes expressed by them. Supper was provided by the ladies.
