Strike of Miners Feared
SYDNEY, Aug. 2.
It is feared in some quarters that the proposed memoriai cervices to be held by miners on Thursday in memory of men who lost their lives in pit disasters last year may develop into a one-day strike throughout Australia. The services will be held simultaneous, l.v with the opening of the miners’ national convention at Sydney to con sider the question of a general strike tor unproved conditions. Miners employed at the South Bun. colliery decided not to work yesterday as a pretest against what they regarded as inadequate inspection of the mine by the Minister of Labour and Industry, Mr Mair, on his recent official visit.
