In vacating the chair after declining to stand for re-election as president of the club, Mr. W. Britland thanked the secretary and members for the assistance given him throughout his term of office and hoped that the same assistance would be forthcoming for his successor.

Mr. G. W. Chatwin thanked members for the confidence placed in him once again, when he was nominated tor reelection as hon. secretary and stated that uncertainty as to his movements during the year made it impossible for him to handle the position and he therefore must decline to stand. It was moved that a vote of thanks to the retiring secretary and president be placed on record, Mr. G. H. Hodd stating that it was fitting that the club should show its appreciation for the wonderful work these men nad done in the interests of bowling in Pahiatua The motion was carried by acclama tion. Both Mr- Britland and Mr. Chatwin declined the honour of being elected life members, declaring that this might be put off for another 10 or 12 years.

The question of club blazers was discussed at some length, some members favouring a change in colours, while others were of the opinion that a change was not necessary. After discussion, it was decided to keep to the original colours (red and black) which are the registered colours of the club, Mr. Boagey maving that a quote be obtained for about 40 blazers. A committee consisting of Messrs G. H. Hodd, C. McCardle, V. Boyens and J. J. Boagey was selected to deal with the question. It was decided, on the suggestion of Mr. C. S. Carrad, to advertise competition teams two or three days prior to the match, thus giving the personnel of same a chance to know of their selection and if available to get in touch with the secretary.

Mr. R. Taylor brought up the question of confining the opening day to club members, suggesting that Pahiatua would be following lead set oy some of the other clubs.

Mr. Chatwin was totally opposed to the suggestion, stating that to do so would be striking at the root of goodwill and fraternity among bowlers. After long argument, a motion of localising opening day was put to the meeting and defeated on the voices. Mr. W. Britland presented trophies won during the year to the following players: Champion singles, Mr. R. Taylor; junior singles, Mr. J. H. Smith; senior pairs, Mr. R. Pilkinton; senior and junior pairs, Mr. R. Davey. Mr. L. T. Herbert proposed a vote of thanks to the lady supporters and paid a tribute to them for assistance, especially on opening days, and hoped they would continue to lend their valuable uelp in the future.
