Heavy Rain Expected WELLINGTON, Last Night. An extensive and deep depression as located over the north-central portion of the Tasman. Pressure is still rather high to the cast of the South Island. Winds: East to north-east, light to moderate, but freshening south of Hokitika and Banks Peninsula; elsewhere moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force in many places. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough to high north of East Cape; moderate south of Dunedin; elsewhere rather rough to rough. Eastern Tasman: Strong north-east to northerly winds to gales and rough to high seas. Weather: Fair to cloudy at firsl in eastern and southern districts of the South Island; elsewhere cloudy to overcast, with rain in western and northern districts and becoming fairly general within 24 hours. Some heavy falls probable with flooding in j>arts of the North Island and northern districts of the •South. Temperatures, moderate to mild YESTERDAY’S WEATHER Auckland: Rain, moderate wind.
