Manawatu Women’s Co-operative Guild
The fortnightly meeting of the Manawatu Women’s Co-operative Guild was held in the Y.W.C.A. rooms on Tuesday afternoon. Tho president, Mrs, O. Niederer, was in the chair. Tho minutest of the last meeting wore read and confirmed.
A letter was read announcing that the Dominion Conference would be held this year in Wellington on August 25 and
New members were welcomed, and members-were reminded of Miss Elsio Andrews’ meeting on August 4 next. Mrs W. A. Holman, of Sydney, then addressed the meeting. She expressed her profound interest in co-operation and said how much she was learning in her progress around New Zealand, and then went on to describe conditions in Spain, especially the way social work for the children and educational work was being continued by tho Republic Government in spite of the war. Mrs S. J. Bennett was in charge of a competition which almost developed into' an intelligence test, and which was won with conspicuous . ease by the visitor, Mrs Ilolmau. Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being MesdamOs Christiansen, Robb, and Bentley. After the moving of a vote of thanks to Mrs Holman by Mrs Evans and Mrs Mason, the meeting closed With the singing of the guild song.
