Pahiatua Race Bail
TO-MORROW NIGHT’S BIG FUNCTION Arrangements are proceeding apace and the success of the 1938 race ball to be held in the Drill Hall to-morrow evening, is practically assured. A record local patronage is expected, while replies, accepting invitations, continue to pour in from all quarters. One of the high-lights of the evening will be the first appearance in this district of Parks' Maori dance band, of Wellington. This talented all-Maori combination is definitely one of Wellington's leading dance bands. Only last year these brilliant musicians travelled to Westport to supply the music for the Westland Aero Club ball. Among the instruments to be featured by the band on this occasion is the famous electric amplified guitar. The manager of the band has also advised that their special amplifying system will be used on this occasion, a speaker being placed in each corner of the liall. Any person who should be so unfortunate as to be unable to hear this outstanding combination of Maori musicians, will certainly miss a rare treat. An open invitation is extended to the public of Pahiatua and surrounding districts.
