Mail Via the Pacific

LAST LARGE AMOUNT CARRIED AUCKLAND, July 25. Terminating the sorting of mails on Pacific liners, the Post and Telegraph Department to-day brought ashore its agent and assistant on the Niagara, and dismantled the sorting cases and mailbag hoppers. In future a greater proportion of New Zealand mail will be diverted to the new Empire air service via Australia. The Niagara’s New Zealand mail was a record for the vessel. It totalled 3669 bags, over 500 bags more than brought in the Christmas rush. There were also 1138 bags fer Australia.
