Political Fears Subside
LONDON, July 2S. Political fears which unsettled the markets earlier in the week are subsiding following the issue of a reassuring communique concerning Captain Wiedemann’s mission to Lord Halifax. The undertone of the market remains firm. Gilt-edged have been inactive, but there has been no pressure of sales. Commodity shares have mainl ly been quiet, foliowfng sluggishness in prices of materials. Depreciation of sterling against the dollar and gold continues. The goldhoarding movement and support of sterling has this week cost the Exchange Equalisation Fund abou# £6,000.000
