From Our Own Correspondent. Miss Doreen Shannon, who is an inmate of a Feilding hospital, recently underwent an operation, and her friends will be pleased to know that she is now making good progress towards recovery. Mrs McMeekan and family, who have just returned from England, are guests of Mrs A. E. Pearce. Mr and Mrs E. Williamson. Junr., left Wellington on Friday by the Awatea for Sydney, to meet Mr and Mrs S. Williamson, Sertr., who are returning from England. Mr and Mrs R. Keith and family are spending a holiday as the guests of Rev. and Mrs Langston, Wellington. Kimbolton arid Waituna cribbage teams met on Saturday evening to play the final mattch for the cup, and Waituna proved the winners. This is the second year in succession that Waituna has won the cup. The Rangiwahla and Waituna senior football teams met to play a match for the Beard Cup, Waituna winning by 5 —9. Mr Wilson, of Tapuae, la keen to form a badminton club in Waituna, and all will wish it success. It is pleasing to note that some of the old settlers of Waituna have donated flowering shrubs to beautify the post office grounds. One shrub is being donated and planted by a lady who was the first baby born in Waituna. Measles and influenza are prevalent in the district, the school being closed on Iriday owing to the small attendance.
