Rotarians Foregather For Annual Dance

BRIGHT FUNCTION AT THE P.D C. Rotarians, their wives and young folk spent an evening of gaiety and enjoyment in the P.D.C. ballroom last evening, the occasion being the annual dance of the Palmerston North Club. The guests were received by the president, Mr. A. A. Langley, and Mrs. Langley, who was wearing a frock of gold Chinese damask diagonally patterned in raisin shade, also a Chinese embroidered coat. The entertainment committee, headed by the capable chairman, Mr. C. V. Ciochetto, organised the programme which proceeded with a swing, ably controlled by Mr. R. Allison. Loveday’s orchestra provided lively dance numbers and music for extra dances was contributed by Mr. H. Oram. Further pleasure was provided by Mrs. Byers and Mr. H. Pierard with vocal solos, Mrs. Pierard being the accompanist. In a happy speech Mr. Langley extended a welcome to the company, ex pressing tho hope that an enjoyable evening would be spent. He commended to the attention of those present the lecture to be given in the Opera House on Wednesday evening which was being sponsored by the Rotary Club, explaining that the Rotarians had appreciated Mr. Alan Browne’s lecture ana pictures so much they wanted the general public to have the same privilege. Savoury supper was served and the gathering was brought to a conclusion in time honoured fashion.
