Spanish Position Must be Settled
BEFORE RATIFICATION OF ANGLO-ITALLAN PACT (British Official Wireless.) Received Thursday, 9.20 p.m. RUGBY, July 6. Asked whether he intended to fix a date by which the conditions preceding the ratification of the AngloItalian agreement milst be in operation Mr. Chamberlain replied* ‘ ‘ Eritain has repeatedly stated that it is not in a position to give full effect to this agreement which is not made subject to ratification until it can regard the Spanish question as settled. At the same time, as I stated on June 26, Britain is anxious to see the agreement brought into force at the earliest possible date consistent with the fulfillment of the abovementioned conditions. ”
