Feilding Magistrate’s Court
COMMITTED FOR TRIAL ON SERIOUS CHARGE At a sitting of the Feilding Magistrate's Court yesterday a labourer named David Allan Steer appeared to* answer a serious charge. Messrs. A. J. Kellow and V. E. Smith, J.P’s., wore on the Bench, Detective Meiklejohn conducted the case for the police, and Mr. T. Pagan appeared for the accused. Acting-detective Compton, Palmerston North, gave evidence as to interviewing the accused regarding the offence, and produced a statement which the accused bad made concerning the accusation. | To Mr. Pagan: When interviewed, * the accused's mental and physical con--1 dition were quite normal. Following the completion of other evidence, the accused pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court at Palmerston North for trial. No application w r as made for bail.
