COMING-OF-AGE

Miss Olwyn Williams HAPPY DANCE GATHERING AT NGAWAPURUA Friends and well-wishers flocked at the bidding of Mr. and Mrs. L. Williams to a party in the Ngawapurua hall on Wednesday to celebrate the coming-of-age of Miss Olwyn Williams, whose popularity was amply demonstrated by tho lavish display of presents brought by the guests and which were arranged upon a table in the hall. The hall was gaily decorated with streamers of pastel blue and pink, with Chinese lanterns and bunches of greenery hanging from the ceiling. This scheme toned prettily wiin the blue and white panelling of the walls. Tho guest of the evening smilingly received the congratulations and good wishes of her many friends. She wore a becoming frock rf rich brown velvet and, of the same material, a coatee with short puff sleeves. A gold spray at the point of the neckline, gold shoes and a gold sequin bag completed her toilette. Dancing to excellent music provided by Mr. K. Hicks, of Pahiatua, at the piano, was the chief entertainment of tho evening, though tho progi-amme was pleasantly broken with a musical game and two items, a recitation by Edna Williams and an Irish jig danced by Molly McPeak. Extra numbers were played by Mrs. J. McPeak and Mr. P. Harris. After supper tho lovely birthday cake was produced. It had been beautifully iced in pale lemon by Mrs. Coulter, and docorated with kewpies. With considerable drollery, Mr. L. Williams congratulated his daughter on attaining womanhood and presented her with tho traditional golden key. Musical honours were accorded her and then the cake was cut and handed round. Mr. J. Hanaray also briefly congratulated "Girlie,” and on behalf of the gathering, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Williams for the party. During the latter part of the programme confetti, streamers and other novelties were enjoyed. A Monte Carlo , for married folk was won by Mr. E. , Gallon and Mrs. Coulter and one for the unmarried by Mr. S. Wilson and Miss K. Morgan. The lucky Gay Gordons was awarded to Mrs. Coulter and Mr. E. McNeil. The happy and memorable evening came to an end after tho singing of “Auld Lang Syne,” when Mr. and Mrs. Williams and family were encircled by the dancers,

Mr. G. C. Isakson was an excellent M.C.
