Duke of Windsor’s Visit to America
RUMOURED INTENTION NEW YORK, June IG. From an unimpeachable source the United Press says it learns that the Duke and Duchess of Windsor will visit the United States flext March and remain for three months. Their tour, it says will be primarily a holiday, although the Duke hopes to make some incidental study of social conditions. It is understood that the approval of tho British Royal Family and tho British and American Governments has either been sought or will be. It has boen suggested that if their reception in America is sufficiently favourable tho Duke and Duchess may decide eventually to reside in the United States. The Duke and Duchess had planned to mnko the visit last year, but on November 5, on the eve of leaving Paris for the steamer, they abruptly cancelled their arrangements. This step was the sequel to protests made by American labour organisations, which complained that the Duke had recently studied labour conditions in Germany, and that his projected tour would bo guided by Mr. Bcdaux, whose labour-saving methods they resented.
