Clouston Stands Out of Race for Aircraft

ILLNESS OF HIS WIFE LONDON, June 11. Flying-Officer A. E. Clouston scratched at the last moment from the international air race, Hatfield to the Isle of Man, because Mrs. Clouston, who was to have accompanied him as a passenger, was taken suddenly ill. She underwent an operation at a Farnborough nursing home. Britain won the race. Of the 16 aircraft taking part, 11 were British, three were German, one Latvian and one Czechoslovak—a machine flown by Lieutenant-Colonel Josef Kalla, Czechoslovakia Air Attache in London. The 16 machines landed in 16 minutes, in a deluge of rain.
