Capital Ship Agreement
AMERICA TO HAVE BIGGEST WARSHIPS LONDON, June 29. Under the new capital ship agreement shortly to be announced, Britain, for the first time in history, no longer possess '.he world’s largest battleship. The agreement, involving escalation, will result in Japan’s non-adherence. It provides for American building 45,000ton ships, Britain 42,000, and France 35,000, the latter being conditional on no European country excepting Britain exceeding this limit. All the Powers agree to the 16-inch gun limit. It is expected that Russia, Germany and Italy ultimately will subscribe to this. Britain’s concession to America is a sequel to the development of Anglo-United States relations no longer involving naval rivalry and jealousy. —.—
