EASY WIN OVER AUCKLAND Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. Tho North island section of the Australian badminton team defeated tho Auckland representatives at thy town hall to-night by seven matches to one. There was a largo attendance, being a record for ,the game in Auckland. Although the visitors showed allround superiority, there were some interesting contests. The results wore: Men's singles: Tonkin (Melbourne) beat Hull 15-10, 35-8; Harpeir (Melbourne) beat Wilson, 15-2, 15-3. Ladies' singles: Airs. Uren (Auckland) beat Miss Hewett (Melbourne) 11-0, 11-9; Miss Robert (Melbourne) beat Miss Ramsay, 11-1, 11-9.

Ladies' doubles: Misses Robert and Hewett boat Mrs. Uren and Miss Ramsay, 18-14, 35-7. Men's doubles: Jlarper and Tonkin beat Wilson and Tull, 18-35, 15-9. MATCH WITH MANAWATU A raro opportunity for badminton enthusiasts will bo afforded next Saturday evening when the Australian team at present on a tour of New Zealand, who defeated tho pick of the North Islaud badminton representatives at New Plymouth last Saturday, will meet the best players in tho Manawatu. Tho matches, which will bo held in tho Produce Hall at the Showgrounds, will consist of two men's singles, two women’s singles, two doubles and two mixed doubles. Fast, vigorous play of a high standard is to bo expected. Tho Manawatu players were successful in winning the B section at tho recent inter-provincial tournament held in Palmerston North and should prove strong opposition.
