Coming-of-age Party

In the Umutaoroa (Dannevirke) School on Friday last Air. and Mrs. W. Mills entertained a great many guests in honour of the coming-of-age of their son James. Alany visitors wero present from surrounding districts, including Air. and Airs. O’Neill, of Rongokolcaka, Air. and Airs. C. Walker, from Mangawhata. Tho room was gaily decorated with coloured paper streamers and balloons. The very cold night gave zest to tho dancers, combined with the stimulation of Mr. E. Fairbrother’s good music. Many novelty dances wero held. These were won by Air. and Airs. J. Broad, Aliss Inglis and Air. C. Walker, and Aliss Roxborough and Mr. J. Mills respectively. Extras were played by Messrs. Izatt, J. Farley (accordion) and J. Finlay son (bagpipes). A pianoforte solo was rendered by Miss C. Nikolaisou. After the serving of a delightful home-made supper, Air. G. Edwards couveyed the felicitations of the gathering to the guest of the evening, who appropriately responded, and Air. Alills also addressed the gathering in suitable terms. The guest of honour then lit the candles on the beautifully-iced.birthday cake. The usual toast list was honoured and a thoroughly enjoyable function concluded in the early hours in timehonoured fashion.
