From Our Own Cori esoondent. Euchre and Dance. The newly constituted hall committee held its first social function on Mono ay evening. The function was made possible by the generosity of Air G. Shannon, of Newbury line, when he placed the use oi his premises at the disposal of the committee. The premises have all the requirements necessary to conduct such a function. The dance hall has a splendid floor and was decorated with paper streamers, while tho adjoining room is capable of holding a large number oi card players. There is the friendly atmosphere of the old-time woolshed dance, with up-to-date appointments, and all tile patrons are keenly looking forward to the next function. During the supper adjournment Air D. Heggie, chairman of the committee, thanked Air Shannon lor his help in leaking the function possible; also Air W. Shannon, who had attractively prepared the rooms; and Airs Shunnon for her assistance with the supper arrangements. He expressed the hope that further social evenings would be spent there. Air .Shannon, in reply, stated that the committee could consider the rooms at their disposal and he wished them every success m their effort to raise money for the new hall. It was decided to hold another evening shortly. The winners of the euchre were: Ladles, Airs O. Jackson 1, Airs Schwann 2; men. Air W. Hughes L Air R. Grant 2. Prime Minister’s Visit. There was a large gathering of adults present on the occasion of the visit to the school by the Prime Alinister. the Rt Hon. AI. J. Savage, who was accompanied bj the Hon. I*. C. Webb, Minister of Alines, and Mr C. L. Hunter, M.F. Social Evening. The Anglican Bible Class field their social evening recently, when an enjoyable time was spent in games and items rendered by members. Recitations were given by Fhylis Coman, Russell Jackson and Dorn Faulkner; mouth-organ solos am duets by R. Tomlinson ana it. Faulkner, and a vocal duet by Alisses Al. Abraham and D. Faulkner. School Committee. Tho monthly meeting of the school committee was held on Alonday evening. Preswere Alessrs A. F. AlcKenzic (chairman) O. Jackson (secretary), W. T. Alaxweli, A. A. O’Donnell and tne headmaster, Mr R. Abraham. The headmaster reported the roll to be 100 and the average attendance 91. The school had been visited by the inspectors and a visit was expected from Mr Lange. The visiting committeeman, Mr O. Jackson, reported that owing to weather conditions matters were at a standstill in the grounds. The playingarea had been top-dressed and was in good order. The visiting committeeman for the month is Air A. c. AlcKenzie. Sunday School Prize Giving. They resentation of prizes to the Anglican Sunday School scholars took place recently. A tea was held at 5.30 p.m., followed by games until 8 o'clock. The Rev Farnel addressed the children and their parents, after which ho made the presentations. A concert by me scholars followed. Aliss R. Clark was presented with a bouquet and handbag, while Mr B. Kilminster received a buttonhole and tie, ir. recognition of their services as Sunday school teachers. The recipients of prizes were: Seniors, Alarjorie Bowyer 1, Herbert Bowyer 2, Alarion Abraham 3; intermediate, Myrtle Devantier 1. Deirde White 2, William Gveig 3; infants. Aoger Abraham 1, Joyce Devantier 2, Jean Pederson 3. Airs Clark’s special was awarded to Robert Greig, and Air ,G. 11. Bennett's special to Louis Mitchell. The competition was won by L. Alitehell. Anglican Ladies’ Guild. A social afternoon was held by the Anglican Ladies’ Guild recently, there being a good attendance. The hostesses were Alesdams Harris and Marshall. Winners of the euchre tournament were Mrs White 1, Airs Clark 2. The usual bring and buy stall was held. A letter was read from the secretary of the hall committee, inviting the ladies to a meeting to be held on June 20 in connection with the new hall scheme. Personal. Air and Airs W. Alaremi are. on holiday] and are visiting Alutangi, Hamilton and Auckland. Airs Rush and small daughter, of Whakamarina, have left for Auckland after visiting her sister, Airs Harris, Dixon's line. Air Slaughter, of the P.W.D., has resumed duty after his return from a tour of the East. Air and Airs Spackman have returned to their home in Woodville. Air and Airs L. Pascoe are holidaying in Taurangn.
