Mrs. P. V. Burns, of Manapouri Crescent, has left Palmerston North to reside in Waipukurau. A recent caller at New Zealand House, London, was Dr. Iv. Neill, formerly of Palmerston North. Miss L. Wimsett, Church street, is spending a few days with her brother at Taihape. The Misses 8., M. and N. Oakley returned home from Wellington at the week-end after taking part in some of capping week festivities. Miss W. E. Midgley, formerly of Masterton, who has been spending the week-end in Palmerston North, has gone to Wellington prior to joining the staff of St. Margaret’s College, Christchurch. Miss C. E. Kirk, J.P., Wellington, past Dominion president of the National Council of Women, was a visitor to Palmerston North yesterday to address a meeting of the Manawatu branch, and returned to Wellington last evening. At yesterday’s meeting of Willard Childrens’ Home Board, the secretary, Mrs E. Birdsall, was instructed to write a letter to Mrs J. A. McLeavey, expressing the members’ sympathy in her illness with best wishes for a speedy recovery. Miss C. B. Mills, formerly principal of tho Palmerston North Girls’ High School, who has been staying with Mrs. W. R. Birnie, Victoria avenue, has been entertained at several pleasant parties. Among her hostesses have been Mrs. J. Murray, of College House, and Miss K. Birnie, who invited a number of old girls to renew acquaintanceship with Miss Mills.
