Competitions Festival
There is one week in the year that is eagerly looked forward to by many members of the community and that is the annual of the Manawatu Competitions Society."* This year's festival whieh opens on Monday morning has attracted so numerous an entry from competitors far and wide that the Society found (he usual accommodation the Opera House and Municipal Hall
quite insufficient to meet the demands, and the Empire Hall has had to be requisitioned for the greater part of the week. Talent of a very high order and variety will bo on exhibition, and the evening programmes particularly, whicii consist, entirely of recalls, ballets and special features are such as to attract large and appreciative audiences.
