State Housing Contracts Let
Details of Latest Projects FURTHER LAND PURCHASED Par Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Additional contracts have been approved by Cabinet for the erection of houses under the Government’s housing scheme. Contracts have been awarded for the construction of 31 dwellings, tenders called for 36 houses and purchases of land sanctioned sufficient to accommodate 76 houses. Contracts for roadiug, Kewerage and drainage have also been approved. Details of these undertakings, announced this evening by the Parliamentary Undersecretary in Charge of Housing, Mr. J. A. Lee, are as follows: Westmere (Auckland): 16 houses, A. G. Grinter. Masterton: W. Kigg, Ltd., three houses. Hastings: Seven houses, P. J. Bridgeman. Blenheim: Five houses, G. H. Gray. Gisborne: Contract for sewerage work, J. 8. Allan and Son, Ltd. Palmerston North: Tender of J. H. Rush for water reticulation accepted. Cobden (Greymouth): Contract for roading and stormwater drainage awarded to West Coast United Contractors, Ltd. Wakari (Dunedin): Tender of Thompson and Glasson for roading has been accepted. Point Chevalier (Auckland): Purchase approved of land for the erection of 11 houses in the Diguan estate. Mission Bay (Auckland): Land has been purchased from the Melanesian Mission Trust Board sufficient to accommodate 17 houses.
St. Helicr’s Bay (Auckland): Land has been secured for the erection of seven houses in Towai and Edmund streets.
Gore: Cabinet has approved the purchase of a further area of land from the Borough Council for the erection of 21 houses.
Karori (Wellington): Cabinet has approved the purchase a further area of land in Campbell street, Karori. This will accommodate 17 houses. Alt. Albert (Auckland): Tenders have been called for the erection of 29 houses in Parkstone avenue and Gardiner and Leone terraces, and they will close on April 27. Land sufficient to accommodate three houses has beeu purchased in the Bpriogieigh estate. Whangarei: Tenders have been called for the erection of seven houses in Radcliffe street, closing on Afonday May 2.
