Saving Life at Sea
SHIP’S SURGEON LENDS AID Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The saving of a human life at sea by means of wireless was recounted by a ship’s surgeon, Dr. I{. D. Flinton, when the Ruahinc reached Wellington to-day from London. In the north Atlantic, the Otaio, a freighter without a doctor oa board, reported by wireless that a man was lying dangerously ill. From the description Dr. Flintou was able to diagnose appendicitis and prescribe a treatment which enabled the man to be brought safely to port. For five days Dr. Flinton was in constant communication with the Otaio by wireless.
