WELLINGTON, Last Night.
The pressure is high from southeastern Australia across the south Tasman to beyond New Zealand. A depression is, however, located over the north-west Tasman near Norfolk Island while a slight disturbance has been crossing the South Island.
Winds: North-easterlies prevailing over most of the North Island but south-easterlies or southerlies about and south of Cook Strait, force light to moderate but freshening somewhat especially in the Cook Strait area.
Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough north of East Cape; elsewhere slight to moderate but later rising in the Cook Strait area.
Eastern. Tasman: Winds between south-east and north-east moderate to strong in the northern and central portions with rather rough to rough seas; elsewhere light to moderate with moderate seas.
Weather: Mainly cloudy to overcast and humid, scattered rains still probable and becoming more widespread; light to moderate in most cases but with some heavy local falls. Temperatures: Mild to warm with some morning fogs. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER. Auckland: Some cloud, light wind. Hamilton: Cloudy, calm. New Plymouth: Overcast, calm. Gisborue: Overcast, calm. Napier; Overcast, calm. Palmerston North: Overcast, rain, calm. Masterton: Sunshine, calm. Wellington: Overcast, light wind. Blenheim: Some cloud, light breeze. Nelson: Cloudy, calm. West Coast: Overcast, light breeze. Christchurch: Overcast, calm. Timaru: Overcast, light wind. Dunedin: Overcast, light breeze. Invercargill: Some cloud, moderate wind.
