A anti-cyclone of considerable intensity is centred east of the South Island. A depression is located south of Norfolk Island, but is filling up. Pressure is high over all Southern Australia. Winds: South-easterlies about Cook Strait and elsewhere east to north-east, force moderate to strong north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, but elsewhere light to moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough north of East Cape and rather rough elsewhere north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, slight to moderate thence southwards. Eastern Tasman: Moderate south-east to easterly winds and slight to moderate seas. Weather: For the most part cloudy to overcast in eastern and far northern districts, with scattered showers or drizzling rain, but improving somewhat; fair elsewhere.
