TRIANGULAR SHIELD CONTEST EKETAHUNA WIN AGAIN The annual triangular demonstration contest between the lire brigades of Eketahuna, Woodville and Pahiatua took place on Saturday. Many interested Pahiatua spectators and visitors were present to witness good work put in by the competing men with hose and hydrant. The Eketahuna Brigade, holders of the Triangular fcjhield, retained this coveted trophy by a one-point margin from Pahiatua, who won two of the threo events. Fireman A. Gowler, of Pahiatua, last year’s winner of the Lett one-man championship cup, repeated his performance and Fireman E. Martin, of Woodville, annexed the novice cup. Results are set out below:— Lett Cup (one-man championship): Pahiatua, run 46 4-5, penalty 3, time 49 4-5, 1; Woodville, run 45 4-5, penalty 5, time 50 4-5, 2; Eketahuna, run 51 3-5, time 51 3-5, 3. Novice Cup: Martin (Woodville), run 36 2-5, time 36 2-5, 1; E. Stitt (Woodville), run 35 4-5, penalty I, time 36 4-5, 2; It. Millar (Pahiatua), run 33 2-5, penalty 5, time 38 2-5, 3. Three-man disabled: Pahiatua, run 65 2-5, penalty 5, time 70 2-5, 1; Eketahuna, run 70, penalty 5, time 75, 2; Woodville, run 65 2-5, disqualilied. Four-man motor: Eketahuna, run 66 1- penalty 5, time 71 1-5, 1; Woodville, run 72 2-5, penalty 20, time 92 22; Pahiatua, run 77, disqualilied. Five-men lumber: Pahiatua, 47 3-5, penalty 10, time 57 3-5, 1; Eketahuna, run 53 3-5, penalty 10, time 63 3-5, 2; Woodville, run 99 2-5, disqualified.
After the demonstration tho teams were entertained by the Pahiatua Brigade, when the presentation of the shield and cups took place. Superintendent W. Law’ry presided and among the visitors were Messrs. W. A. Carthew and J. W. Sturton, members of the Pahiatua Fire Board.
