Sustenance System Calls for Good Faith
MAN FINED AT WANGANUI Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Last Night. John Patrick Behin was fined £6 on each of three . charges of obtainiug sustenance by false statements at Christchurch in 1930 and £4 on a similar charge at Wellington in 1937, by Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., who remarked that it had been repeatedly pointed out that the sustenance system calls for the utmost good faith on the part of those who benefit by it and was open to abuse. A man must not be allowed to profit by misstatements made to obtain relief. The amount involved was £22 133 9d.
