From Our Own Correspondent. An enthusiastic band of voulntary workers are at present painting- the Nireaha Church. This will greatly improve the appearance of the building- which, though few people realise it, is an outstanding piece of architecture. At a recent meeting of the Sports Club dance committee, an offer from Misses N. Graham, H. Lock and J. Lock, of Masterton, to give exhibitions of (ap and acrobatic dancing at the Easter ball, was gratefully accepted. At a recent meeting of the directors of the Nireaha Cheese Factory the resignation as chairman of.Mr A. E. Bell was accepted with regret. Mr Bell lias given 33 years of splendid service to the factory, and his sound judgment and tactfulness has earned for him a host of friends among the dairying community of the Nireaha district. On Monday evening of last week the annual Harvest sale was held by the Presbyterian Church. A large gathering enjoyed a concert given by Pahiatua artists. An item much appreciated was a tap dancing exhibition given by the Murch twins. Numerous games and competitions were intermingled with the items. Following the concert, an excellent array of produce was disposed of, Mr McDonald being the auctioneer, assisted by Mr J. H. A. Drysdale. A sum of nearly £ls was raised by the sale. Supper was served by church members. Various competitions have been finalised, the results being as follow: Women’s handicap singles, final, Mrs Lozell beat Mrs Mills 30—23; men’s handicap singles, final, B. Lozell beat C. Mills 40—29; men’s handicap doubles, final, Wright and Mills beat Butler and Lozell 40—38; women’s handicap doubles, Miss Spring and Mrs Sigvertson beat Miss Butler and Mrs Mills 30—23. Ping Pong Club. The annual meeting of the Nireaha Ping Pong Club was held on Wednesday evening last, when Mr C. Mills presided over a large attendance. The balance sheet showed a considerable drop in funds but this was considered quite satisfactory considering the extra expense, during the past season. The-membership for the past season was a record, 43 members being financial. The annual dance showed a considerable loss. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Patron, Mr A. E. Bell; president, Mr C. 11. Mills; secretary, Mr C. D. Goss; .auditor, Mr J. L. Daysh. The opening night was fixed for Tuesday, April 12. The opening night will take the form of a match between teams picked by the president and secretary. Mr Mills and Mr Goss were appointed delegates to attend the Bush Assiciation meetings. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the retiring officers for their past services. Football Club.

The annual meeting of the Nireaha Football Club was well attended, Mr J. F. Petersen presiding. The balance showed the club’s finances to be in a healthy state. In accepting re-election as president, Mr Petersen congratulated the club on its performances during the season and expressed the hope that future’ activities would be carried out in the same manner. Other officers elected for the ensuing year were as follow: Patron, Mr R. P. A. Thomasen; vice-presidents. Messrs -i. B. O’Neil, R. Payne, S. Goss, P. K. Daysh, A Colder, C. Hercock, E. B. Terry, B. Lozell and W. Goss; lion, secretary, Mr H. Eagle; auditor, Mr J. L. Daysh; coach and selectors, Mr W. W. Drysdale and Mr A. G. Colder; club captain, Mr R. J. Lawrence. It was decided to enter junior and third grade teams in the Bush competitions. Delegates appointed to attend the annual meeting of the Bush Association were the president and secretary. Matters concerning ground improvement were also finalised. Efforts are being made to have a portion of the Domain flood-lit to enable practices to be held at night. Mr A. Golder was authorised to make arangements for a visit from a Masterton team on Easter Monday.

Rifle Shooting. The second shoot for the Blewett Cup by members of the Taranta Club produced some good score?. Ten shots were fired at the 500 and 600 yards ranges, with a handicap limit of 94. Rasmussen after a shootoff with S. Blewett and C. Sigvertsen. The Tocker Cup was won by N.
