FAREWELLS POPULAR MEMBER Yesterday afternoon at the Technical High School two ploasant functions were held for tho purpose of bidding farewell to Miss C. Mardon, a popular member of the staff who is leaving to be married. At the afternoon assembly of the pupils Mr. H. M. Scott, the principal, voiced the pupils’ appreciation of Miss Mardon’s long period of service, stressing particularly the fine influence she had exerted on the girls, not only in her classes but also in connection with the various school activities. Maureen Bevan, the head prefect, then made the presentation of a beautiful silver sandwich dish at the same time wishing the recipient, on behalf of the pupils, the best of health and happiness in the future. Miss Mardon suitably replied.

At the conclusion of the afternoon classes, Miss Mardon was met by the members of the staff and, following afternoon tea, Mr. Scott stressed the regret of the staff at Miss Mardon’s departure. He made mention of the fact that she had joined the staff in 1922, and had entered wholeheartedly into all the activities of the school, where her splendid work had earned .the admiration of staff and pupils alike. In conveying tho good wishes of the staff, he expressed the hope that Miss Mardon would still maintain a contact with the school in which she had performed such good work. A tribute to the perseverance and untiring work of Miss Mardon was paid by Miss Young, senior mistress, "who mentioned that many of the suggestions for improvements in connection with the girls’ work had originated with Miss Mardon, who had always had tho welfare of the girls at heart. Mr. Newman, as a teacher who had been associated with Miss Mardon throughout her service, added his tribute to her sterling qualities. Mr. Scott then presented her with a dinner service.

In replying, Miss Mardon stated that she had always derived the utmost pleasure from her work at the school. She had found an inspiration in the veTy cordial relations which had at all times existed amongst members of the staff.
