Indoor Bowling
ANNUAL MEETING. The third annual meeting of tho Palmerston North Friendly Societies’ Indoor Bowling Association was held at the Y.M.C.A. on Thursday night, the president, Mr E. W. Drake, presiding over the most largely attended meeting yet held. The annual report and tho balancesheet were adopted, the executive and committee being complimented on the achievements of the past season. A record number of new members were elected, and indications at the meeting point to a substantial increase in membership this season. On behalf of the rules committee the president presented complete rules and by-laws governing the association, these being adopted with slight amendment to one rule. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr J. A. Nash; president, Mr A. Dawick; vice-president, Mr J. J. Cox; committee, Messrs A Dawick, J. J. Cox, G. Hansen, B. King, G. Hancock, A. F. Jackson, J. Prisk, and A. J. Hunt, and Miss Underwood; secretary-treasurer, Mr A. J. Hunt; assistant secretary, Miss Underwood; selectors, Messrs B. King, B. Fisher and J. Tantrum; auditor, Mr E. W. Drake; trustees, Messrs C. Purcell (re-elected) and J. Peterana.
In view of the large number of ne.v members elected it was decided that a coach be appointed, and Mr G. Hancock was elected to this position. The secretary-treasurer was granted tho usual honorarium and the assistantsecretary, Miss Underwood, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for her services. The retiring president, who did not seek re-election, expressed thanks to the committee, secretary and selectors, and to members generally for their assistance and support during the past two seasons and called on the president elect to take the chair.
Mr Dawick in reply thanked members for his election, and hoped, as the season advanced, to justify the confidence placed in him. The retiring president and committee were accorded a hearty vote of thanks and appreciation of their services.
Following a subsequent meeting of the eoiiimittee, the president announced that the season would commence on Wednesday next, and invited all members to attend on the opening night.
