Manawatu Golfers Say “Thank You” To Mrs. Seifert
PRESENTATION AT HOKOWHiTU There was a pleasing incident at Hokowhitu on Saturday afternoon when members of the Manawatu Golf Club assembled after tho tea adjournment to honour Mrs. L. Seifort.
Mr. S. A. Goldingham, the newlyeleCted president, called upon Mr. W. L. Fitzherbert to do tho honours in view of his long association with Mrs. Seifert on the committee.
Asking Mrs. Seifert’s acceptance of a set of golf clubs and a bag, Mr. Fitzherbert said the gift was a small token of the appreciation of the men members for the wonderful assistance she bad been to the club over a long period. Not only had she mothered the lady members, but every appeal for help from the men had met with ready response under Mrs. Seifert’s guidance. They could not speak too highly of her services and hoped she would long be spared to enjoy using the clubs and to continue as president of the Ladies’ Club.
In a very nice speech Mrs. Seifert returned thanks for the gift, laughingly remarking that she was glad it had not been an armchair. She appreciated very much the kindly sentiments, but assured the members her work as secretary of the Ladies’ Club had always been a labour of love and anything else she had only been too happy to carry out. Cheers were enthusiastically given for Mrs. Seifert.
